Special test for to impingement of shoulder :
- This special test is applied by to doctor or therapist for to check the impingement of shoulder .
- It is applied when to patient tell about to pain around to shoulder & any bone related problem is not to present .
- This special test is applied during to examination part of assessment .
- Mostly check to anterior impingement of to shoulder .
Name of special test :
- There are two test for to impingement of shoulder :
- Reverse impingement sign
- Supine impingement test
Purpose of both impingement test :
- It is used to for check impingement of to shoulder.
- It is also help in check to impingement under acromin & rotator cuff pathology .
Reverse impingement sign :-
- This test is also known as to impingement relief test .
- This test is used when to patient has a positive painful arc / pain on lateral rotation means external rotation .
How to perform of this impingement test ?
- Starting position for test is supine.
- Then examiner is push the head of humerus inferior as to arm is abducted or lateral rotation means external rotation .
What is result of this impingement test ?
- During this test if patient is feel to pain decrease or disappears when repeating to movements with to humeral head depressed ,so that It is considered to positive test for mechanical impingement under the acromion.
Modification of this impingement test ?
- This modification is describe by to Corso advocated .
- This test is perform to standing position .
- After that apply to inferior glide of to humerus during abduction but suggested to using a posteroinferior glide of to humeral head during to forward flexion .
- This glide is apply to just before the ROM where pain occurred on active movement .
- Result is same as to normal impingement test.
Supine impingement test :-
How to perform of this impingement test ?
- Starting position for test is supine.
- Examiner is stand at the side by to shoulder which is shoulder tested.
- Then examiner is hold to patient’s wrist & humerus means near to elbow & elevates to patient’s arm to end range [ approximately 170′ to 180′.
- Examiner is then laterally rotates to arm & adducts it into further elevation with to supinated arm against to patient’s ear.
- The examiner then medially rotates to patient’s arm.
What is result of this impingement test ?
- If to medial rotation causes a significant increase in pain ,the test is considered positive for an impingement & rotator cuff pathology [ nonspecific ] because narrowing & compression into subacromial space .
What is diagnosis accuracy of this impingement test ?
- Sensitivity of this test = 97%
- Specificity of this test = 9%
- LR + = +1.071
- LR = -0.33
