Test for the anterolateral instability of the knee :
- There is a two test for this instability :
- Active pivot shift test
- Crossover test of the Arnold
- This test is used by the therapist for the check of the instability .
- This test is used to when the patient is complain the pain around to the knee .
- This test is applied during the examination part .
Active pivot shift test :
Purpose of this test :
- This test is used to the check of the anterolateral rotary instability of the shoulder .
- This test is examine the abnormal anterior rotation of the tibia on the lateral side which is relative to the femur .
What is technique of the test performance ?
- Starting position for the test is sitting .
- In the sitting position keep the foot on the floor in natural rotation & do the knee flexion up tp 80′ to 90′.
- Then asked to the patient for the do the isometrically contract of to the quadriceps .
- On that time examiner is stabilize to the foot .
Result of this test :
- The positive test is indicated by to the anterolateral subluxation of the lateral tibial plateaus .
- So that it is indicative of the anterolateral instability .
Crossover test of the Arnold :
Purpose of this test :
- This crossover test is used to for the check of the anterolateral rotary instability of to the shoulder .
- This test is examine to the abnormal anterior rotation of to the tibia on to the lateral side which is relative of to the femur .
What is technique of the test performance ?
- Starting position for the test is standing .
- Then asked to the patient for the do cross the uninvolved leg in front of the involved leg .
- The examiner then put the carefully steps on the patient ‘s involved foot to stabilize it .
- Then instructs to the patient for the rotate the upper torso away form the injured leg approxemately 90 ‘ form the fixed foot .
- Then the patient is achieved this position then asked to the patient for the contracted of the quadricep muscle .
Result of this test :
- The positive test is indicated by to the anterolateral subluxation of the lateral tibial plateaus .
- So that it is indicative of the anterolateral instability .
